Scanning a tree

The Tree Scanning feature is available only on iPhone 12 Pro and newer models. This is because it relies on the built-in LiDAR sensor, which ensures precise depth measurements and high-quality data capture.

  1. download the application in the AppStore3d Scanner App

  2. open 3d Scanner App

  3. point your phone at the tree you want to measure

  4. start the scan by pressing the red button

  5. carefully scan the tree from the ground to the beginning of the crown

    1. do not rush anywhere when scanning
    2. make sure that the application manages to scan the tree
  6. once you go around the whole tree, press the red button to complete the scan

Export scan and insert to TreeScanner

  1. Click on “process” button
  2. Select the export quality medium
  3. Press the “Start”
  4. wait for the scan to export
  5. then press:
    1. “Share”
    2. choose .obj
    3. “Save to Files”
    4. we recommend that you rename the file so that you know the records later
      1. For example, in the format: project-name_site-name_tree-number.zip
    5. select where you want to save the 3D model
    6. “Save”

  1. open the tree record you just scanned in TreeScanner and scroll to the bottom of the screen
  2. press the "Add a stem scan" button
  3. select the correct file
