• the ideal state is when the orange line connects the point from which you are shooting and the point where the tree is located

orange line shows the recording you are going to take

the complete record of photos can then look like this on the map, for example (the directions of the photos of the whole tree are marked in red, the trunk in blue)

<aside> 👉 when setting the direction when shooting, it's easiest to find your way around the surrounding points, such as: roads, sidewalks, buildings, or other trees | determining the direction is then more accurate and faster if I take photos, for example, perpendicular to the sidewalk

<aside> 💡 for repeated collections, it is recommended to always take pictures of trees from the same place and angle | this results in the most accurate tree tilt calculation

1. take a high-quality picture of the whole tree / trunk
   1. high-quality → in a particular photo, you mainly see the relevant part that you’re photographing (whole tree / trunk) and it is centered:
      • when photographing the complete tree, you can see the entire crown (where it extends to the height and to the sides)
      • when photographing the trunk, you can see from where the trunk grows up to the border with the crown

1. after taking a photo, it is necessary to enter the distance from which you took the photo

• the best for this is rangefinder

be sure to check the distance after taking the picture

turn on the rangefinder

aim to the tree

measure the distance from the tree

write down the measured data

How to take pictures correctly?

• Whether you are photographing a trunk or an entire tree, a red line will appear on the screen → this indicates whether you have the device horizontally

• the picture will not be taken until you have the device horizontal (= the line will be blue)
